2006/2007 School Year

Our children are home schooled. This fall is our 13th year to homeschool. Hard to believe, but praise God! Our oldest went to kindergarten in a public school and that was the last time any of my children have been to one. We as a Christian Family strongly believe in bringing up our children to have an education without the lies of evolution and to be able to study the word of God along with their reading, 'riting and 'rithmatic.

The children's names & ages are:
Janelle, 18-(she's graduated and married now); Aaron, 15; Joshua, 12; Abishai, 6

On this page I am going to supply some information about home schooling I have found and learned  with my own experience. There will also be some links to other sites of interest.

As far as any experiences I could pass on, well...you and I both don't have that much time. But seriously, there have been alot of things I wanted to do with homeschooling, but with lack of money, time and resources available to me, some things got left to ideas. My biggest downfall has always been time. If you want to homeschool you must make time to get everything done. You can't just hand the kids the books and go sit and read a book. You have to plan, record, grade, break up squabbles between siblings etc... I find that my older kids always find ways to "help" their little brother. I have had to set rules against that, otherwise the 6 yr old becomes a constant distraction.
Some advice for me to pass on would be if you're new at homeschooling or still in the praying about it stage. Let me say first, don't get lazy! It's hard to stay firm and strict at home. If you want to keep your structure, then set rules from the beginning. Don't give in to "can we sit on the couch?" You'll end up with couch potato students. I speak from experience. =-)
We live in a 41 ft. RV and our table is fairly small so they usually choose the couch. Try teaching cursive writing when the kids are lying down. Doesn't work folks!!
More ideas and experiences as I get time!

Happy Home Schooling!

  It's Summer Break, 2007
The older boys have already been to church camp and we are trying to make up a bit of left over work, but Lord willing school will start strong this fall.
