Text: Jeremiah 6:16
Thus
saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where
is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But
they said, We will not walk therein.
We live in
a day and age when new "stuff" comes out so quickly, that some
things are obsolete almost from the moment you get them. It's a disposable
age, use it once and throw it away. But I ask you, what's wrong with
something that works? Something that actually gets better with age? I like
that old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". I think we need to search
out some "...old paths, where is the good way, and walk
therein"...
The Old Path of Preaching: 1Cor.1:21;
2Tim.4:1-4;Jer.20:9
The Old Path of Praise: Php.4:4;
Eph.5:19-20
The Old Path of Persistance: Heb.12:3;
Gal.6:9
The Old Path of Prayer: Lk.18:1; 1Th.5:17; 1Sam.12:23
We don't
need programs designed to patronize and pacify petty pious people. We need
to stick to the Old Paths, lest we find ourselves in the situation of many
today as expressed in Isa.3:12...
"As for my people, children are there oppressors, and
women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err,
and destroy the way of thy paths."
Would to
God we would stick to the Old Paths.
