I want to speak to you today
about rejection. That's such a negative word. In this "politically
correct" world, we're taught that we should "tolerate"
certain things, while the word of God clearly states we are to REJECT them.
Now look at our text. You should know that Egypt in your Bible is a type of
the world. 1John 2:15-16 tells us...
"Love
not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love
the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the
world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
Hebrews 11 is of course the great new testament chapter on faith,
and is full of rich lessons for us today. Let's examine a few
things that faith rejects:
1. Faith
Rejects the World's Plan; v.23
Ex. 1:22-2:10 Moses'
parents rejected Pharoah's plan
Eph. 2:2 A Christian must
reject the course of this world
2. Faith Rejects the World's Prestige; v.24
Ex. 2:10-11 Moses rejected
the cush life
Mt. 4:8-10 A Christian must
reject the Devil's offers, Jesus did!
3. Faith Rejects the World's Pleasures; v.25
Ex. 1:12 Affliction brings
growth
Jos. 24:15 A Christian must
make the right choice
4. Faith Rejects the World's Plenty; v.26
Heb. 13:13; 11:6; Lk. 9:23;
2Tim. 4:10 A Christian must
reject the things of this world
5. Faith Rejects the World's Pressures; v.27
Heb. 12:1-4
Js. 4:7 A Christian must
reject the Devil's temptations
The all important question is, will
you reject the world
and the things of the world and serve the Lord Jesus Christ?
Remember what it says in Mt. 7:13-14...
"Enter ye
in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because
strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few
there be that find it."
Will you reject the world's gate and choose the strait and narrow way?
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the ways of death."
(Pr. 14:12)
There is one thing in life you had better not reject! John 12:48 says...
"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that
judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the
last day."
